Simmering goodness on every page, the recipes bound between these covers are tried and true works of genius....at least kitchen geniuses.
Table Scraps for the Hoi Polloi is a collection of my ultimate favorite things to cook and eat. Hoi Polloi actually means, “the masses; the common people.” In slang terminology is can refer to “the Riff Raff.” So whether you fall into the masses, common, or Riff Raff category, there is something to strike your tastebud fancy. Everything in this book is easy, palatable, and memorable. It’s everyday ingredients and anything but ordinary flavors.
These dishes only made the cut if they were a family favorite, passed down for generations, and loved by family members for years.
The recipes found here were enjoyed at Christmas celebrations, Jewish holidays, family festivities, and early childhood memories around the table for the Stewart family (Paula’s) and the Jackson (Benny’s) families.
It is my hope that you, too, can enjoy the mouthwatering flavors represented in these timeless treasures, and maybe...just maybe, a few of them will begin to hold life long memories around the table for you and your family.

A Humorous, Yet Insightful Look at Losing One-Hundred Pounds
When I set out to release over one-hundred pounds, I had no idea I would be left with a frowning belly-button.
Having legs that resembled a Shar-pei was not on the top of my list.
I was unaware that I would experience confusion on where to purchase panties for my thin body, and the skin under my arms would have a mind of its own.
But despite the odd things going on under my clothing, powerful changes were occurring on a soul level.
With every pound I released, my inner self became stronger, more vibrant, and alive. Join me on an extremely humorous look into the vulnerable life of one gal who set out to change her life--and did!

It is possible that we all need a little Retail Therapy in our lives. But just in case you aren’t sure if this book is for you, I have a scientific checklist below to help you decide if you qualify for therapy.
Here are the categories:
1.) You HAVE owned or CURRENTLY (God bless you) own a retail store.
2.) You have EVER, even once shopped at a retail store.
3.) Your spouse has shopped at a retail store (even if you sat outside holding the bags.)
4.) You are ALIVE.
If you answered “yes” to any of the above, this book is for you.
And what is inside these pages could change your life for the better. You will learn how to be a better shopper, spouse of a shopper, or if you are the owner of a retail business, it will help you know you are not alone when you want to poke your own eye out with a stick some days.
I hope you fit into at least one of them, maybe even more, because the following pages have some real nuggets for life. But then I also recognize that these categories are just my recommendations and I know there are rule breakers out there. You know who you are. You are the one who says “To hell with the categories! I’m gonna read this book and no one can stop me!” And I say good for you! Go for the gusto! Grab life by the horns! Swim upstream, you salmon! Huzzah! Huzzah!
THIS is why we are having a Retail Therapy session.
You’re welcome.

Life is a dance.
We take two steps forward and then a step back. We may dance with a partner who is a terrible dancer, and in that case we take two steps back and one step forward. We may dance alone in the kitchen or in a crowd on a cruise ship. We may hear the beat of a waltz, calling us to float across the floor or the thumping rhythm of a pop song that beckons us to get a little wild.
Sometimes our music is upbeat, other times it plays out like elevator music. But as our feet move to the beat we have choices as to whether or not we are going to move forward on the dance floor, or stay in one spot.
May you be encouraged to grow a little bit each day.
May you move forward with excellence.
May you implement positive thinking into your life.
May you exemplify trustworthiness and honesty in your business and personal life.
May kindness be your second nature.
May you always find ways to give generously.
May you be pregnant with hope for the future.
May your house always smell like Brussel sprouts if you want it to.
And may your dance shoes be dipped in paint as you move across the floor, gracefully adding color to a spot on life’s otherwise black and white canvas.
